Funerals & Memorials
Funerals
A Funeral Service marks the close of a human life on earth. These can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church. We gather to celebrate the life of our loved one and to surround family and friends in prayer and care.
Services are held at St. Wilfrid’s church and, from time to time, at a Crematorium. Burial in St. Wilfrid’s Churchyard is regulated by Church of England law and, usually, funeral directors will make an enquiry on behalf of the bereaved.
We’ll always be here to help you through one of life’s most difficult times. Please contact the Parish Team. You can also find out more about Church of England funerals by clicking here.
Memorials
Choosing a suitable, lasting memorial headstone can be part of that process of coming to terms with bereavement and remembering loved ones. Historic graveyards, such as the one at St. Wilfrid's, are naturally governed by diocesan and national regulations, governing their management and maintenance. We assist families in making an application to erect a memorial headstone. Fees are set nationally.
