Children and Young People

We are proud of our warm and committed Junior ChurchWe are proud of our warm and committed Junior Church

At St Wilfrid's, we hope that everyone can feel welcome and enjoy worshipping with us.

We believe that families, children and young people have as much right to enjoy a meaningful relationship with God as any member of our congregation and strive to provide a wide range of accessible, meaningful and inclusive activities.

Junior Church

We are proud to have developed an active group of families who work together to provide Junior Church sessions in the Village Hall, adjacent to St. Wilfrid's church, at most Sunday Eucharist services. Our Junior Church is both fun and age appropriate group, and through this, facilitate growth in relationships and understanding. All of our Junior Church volunteers have been DBS checked.

Our Junior Church section runs concurrently with the 10:30am Sunday service. The children start within the church and then move into the hall after the first hymn, returning for communion and final hymn. We have lively and active age-related topics to follow during sessions and usually bring some of our work into the service at the end, to display and discuss with the wider congregation.

If you cannot do one of the sessions, please liaise directly with other groups via email or the Facebook Group to arrange a swap!

Social Events

Occasionally we will arrange social events and activities at other venues. For example, in September 2016 we came together to hold a 'JC on the REC' event for Crossroads, which involved family friendly games, challenges and a picnic. We also organised a family meal at Haighton Manor.
