A message from Brian McConkey

Dear Friends,

As expected, there has been a ban on Public Worship imposed by the Archbishop of Canterbury and York, following Government Advice. This is not a surprise.

At 10.30 on Sunday I will celebrate a Private Eucharist, at which I will pray for you and all in our Community. Rev'd Karen will be praying at our other two Churches. This will be reversed week on week.

Weddings and Funerals will take place but with appropriate social spacing and services may be somewhat truncated. I won't expect Organists to be present, for example.

We are looking at Digital platforms to share worship and resources are being worked on. St Wilfrid's has a Facebook page and Twitter, for those who use them. Updates and news items will be shared on there, as well as via our email bulletin where possible. Watch this space!

I am, personally, devastated by this news. We are being encouraged to find new ways of being Church and supporting our local community. Please keep in mind our small local businesses which are under great threat at the moment. I called into the Ribchester Arms and, after the flood, it feels a bit of a double whammy.
